Out of a stormy time in my life, God led me to rediscover my love for painting. I paint because it refreshes my soul. The process of seeing the beauty of the moment, capturing it, composing it, and then painting it – making it come to life on the canvas – that is what energizes me. I see the world differently since I started painting again. The “frenzied pace” of life is all “background noise” now, compared to the beauty of what the Lord is revealing to me daily through my art. Colors come alive! Shapes jump out at me. God’s majesty and creativity become real to me, time and time again as I observe and listen.

For the moment, I am drawn to florals and still lifes. I continue to study and focus on pastels, although I periodically paint in oils as well. I select my objects by constantly watching as life goes on around me, taking note of the “beauty of the moment”. Something always grabs me-it is then that I have found my next painting.

I have a large family to care for, so for now, I paint when my schedule permits. I love painting with pastels – they allow me to drop into my studio for as little or as long as time permits without worrying about set up and clean up. My goals are to continue to study and learn, but mostly to JUST PAINT!
