Collage Workshop ($175) Experiment with a variety of materials and mediums, explore the history of collage, and learn the types and qualities of different papers. The class will be 4 hours. We will provide some supplies but encourage you to bring a collection of materials to try (I will send participants a suggested supply list).
 Limited to 8 participants.
Figure Workshop ($150) This workshop will closely examine the anatomy of figure drawing as well as portraiture. Learn to draw from a live model as well as photographs. Learn proportions of the face and body as well as how to draw objects in movement. Please bring Xerox copies of photos you'd like to work from. The class will be 4.5 hours and we will be using drawing based mediums. Limited to 6 participants.

Plein Aire Workshop ($500) An exciting weekend away at a beautiful ranch where we will spend two days learning to draw in nature.  The workshop will start on a Saturday afternoon and go through Sunday and will include lodging at a bed & breakfast about 1.5 hours outside of the city.  Directions and further information will be sent after sign-up.  Limited to 6 participants and price to be determined based on dates.

 

Still Life & Figure Drawing Classes. Two hour classes teaching the basic in drawing whether from Still Life or a Live Model. The course are for all levels – novice to professional artists. Students are required to bring the basic drawing supplies from our supply list. Classes are held 1x a week.


All classes will be taught by Virginia Marum.   Marum holds a B.A. in Art History and a B.A. in Printmaking from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and is currently the co-director of Cerulean Gallery.  She has taught classes in Figure Drawing, Printmaking, Bookmaking, and Art History to both students at UC Santa Cruz and privately.  She has worked alongside internationally known artist and author, Makiko Okamoto, and Crown Point Press printer and author, Emily York.  She worked as an apprentice to the master printer at Josephine Press and later as the director of the Christopher John Gallery.  Her work has shown in numerous individual and group exhibitions throughout LA as well as published in one of Sunset Magazine's design issues.
